ANNOTATION
This
thesis deals with the usage of games in English language teaching and examines
its aspects from various perspectives.
The
first chapter explains advantages and disadvantages of using games in language
teaching in general, the second describes diverse types of games used in
lessons.
The
third chapter investigates the differences in appropriate use of various types
of games in different language level classes, from beginners to advanced
learners, presents the differences in using games in language teaching
according to students‟ age and explaining the approach differences. It also
compares the games according to number of students in the class, paying special
attention to adapting games to smaller or bigger classes.
The
fourth chapter addresses the learning situations in which it is recommended to
use or not use games, the fifth chapter attempt to give useful tips to teachers
applicable in class.
The
sixth, concluding chapter presents an investigation realized amongst adult
students about their preference regarding using games in language teaching,
taking into consideration types of games and amount of time dedicated to games.
It also gives the result and compares the students‟ input with the
recommendations of authors of teaching and methodology books.
